Pilates & Movement

Audrey Stella D’Cotta

A dedicated movement educator and advocate for mind-body fitness, Audrey’s journey began as a client grappling with back pain and scoliosis, and has evolved to form a remarkable career in the wellness space.

The most pivotal moment came in 2009 when Audrey founded The Moving Body; a space that combined the diverse movement experiences of fitness, functional training, Pilates and the GYROTONIC® method. She soon expanded this to add an educational arm by establishing The Movement Academy, delivering on the high demand for superior movement education in Singapore.

In addition to her many years of experience in Pilates and GYROKINESIS® and a busy life as a mother of two, Audrey is now Singapore’s inaugural Master Trainer for the Gyrotonic method. Her academic accomplishments extend to psychology and the Franklin Method too, which have further enriched her exploration of the body’s functionality and the brain’s adaptive capacity to enhance it. Audrey is also incredibly passionate about her role as a certified Women’s Health Specialist with The Center for Women’s Fitness. Both there and now at HER Wellness Club, she helps women to navigate the physical, emotional and mental changes we experience through every life stage.

When asked what she enjoys most about her job, Jiho says: “Helping others to move confidently, strongly and gracefully through their lives”.

Lila Roosmalia

Specialising in pre/post-natal training, posture correction, strength and conditioning, and athletic performance, Lila is a truly motivational instructor who goes all out to get the best from her clients. Having been enthusiastic about sport and fitness from a young age, Lila’s first Pilates experience was 16 years ago when she started taking classes to relieve her back pain. Before long, she had discovered that the benefits of the practice went far beyond pain relief. Through regular sessions, she improved her physical strength, gained more flexibility than ever before and was even able to achieve her goal of running a marathon.

Yearning to have a deeper understanding about Pilates, Lila decided to undertake the Polestar Mat and Comprehensive Pilates qualifications. That was thirteen years ago, and she has never looked back! Since then she has gone onto become a certified instructor in Oov, TRX, Core Align and other movement courses. Today, Lila continues to harness the power of Pilates and share her knowledge to help clients of all ages and demographics to feel more energised and confident.

Outside of the studio, Lila is a mother of two delightful children and is also a Montessori pre-school teacher.

Sophie Ki

A ballet dancer turned Pilates instructor, Sophie’s discovery of the practice came – like so many others – as a result of injury when she was still living in her native Seoul. She turned to Pilates to help her stay fit and support her recovery, and was immediately hooked. Now, six years on, Sophie is an experienced instructor who specialises in helping clients not just to achieve their physical goals, but to feel more confident, energised and with the freedom to move comfortably whatever their age.

With a BSc in Life Sciences and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Sophie is also an accomplished academic with a real passion for learning. Despite her busy Pilates schedule, Sophie can often be found taking new courses to advance her knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and hone her teaching.

So far, this love of learning has seen her become comprehensively certified by Balanced Body and Modern Pilates International in South Korea, as well as an ACE personal trainer (level 1), certified Franklin Method Educator, and Fascia Trainer for lower back and pelvic floor. Sophie channels this bounty of movement-based expertise and personal interest in body mechanics into all her classes; a trait that makes sessions with Sophie as effective as they are enjoyable. In her own words, she says, “My passion lies in empowering individuals to enhance not just their physical well-being but also their overall quality of life. By fostering a holistic approach to movement, it is my sincerest desire to guide and inspire others on their journey towards improved well-being and personal growth.”

Karina Sudarmadji

Karina had been teaching Pilates in Bandung, Indonesia for five years before relocating to Singapore. For some people, the cultural and language differences could have been a barrier to success, but Karina rose to the challenge; determined to hone her skills as an instructor so she could continue to support clients on their movement journeys.

Firm in her belief that we should never stop learning, Karina is constantly upgrading her knowledge to help her better understand the human body, how it moves and what it is capable of. Most recently, this led her to become a certified Gyrotonic® instructor, a fantastic complement to her Pilates training.

Karina’s ten years in the industry have seen her work with clients of various fitness levels and a wide range of injuries and conditions. Whatever their starting point, Karina says she feels the same pride and happiness when they begin to see progress and achieve freedom in their movement.

Her patient, caring attitude and close attention to detail are just a few of the things clients love about working with Karina. It’s these traits that help them to feel confident and at ease as they step outside their comfort zones with safe but challenging, carefully-designed sessions. Karina also volunteers at ABLE (Ability Beyond Limitation and Expectations) where she teaches Pilates rehabilitation techniques to the physically challenged. Despite her busy schedule, Karina maintains a healthy lifestyle by running regularly, and has even participated in races such as the Standard Chartered and Sundown Half Marathon.

Hui Lin Ho

Hui Lin began practicing yoga in 2008 and felt an immediate affiliation with the mindful and physical nature of the practice. Inspired, she took her practice to the next level in 2014 by becoming a certified yoga instructor and the in-house yoga instructor for the company where she was working at the time. Soon after, Hui Lin began exploring Pilates as a natural complement to yoga.

This exploration evolved into a passion for Pilates during her first pregnancy when she realised its merits particularly for pelvic stability and pelvic floor strength. Today a happy mother of two, she still advocates strongly for the benefits of the practice, particularly during and after pregnancy.

After making the bold decision to leave the corporate world behind, Hui Lin sought to pursue her love of Pilates as a full-time career. She successfully achieved her comprehensive Balanced Body certifications in all Pilates apparatus including Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Ladder Barrel, before going onto become a qualified Pilates Pre & Post-Natal Specialist too.

This knowledge and experience empowers Hui Lin to deliver an effective, well-rounded and appropriately varied Pilates experience with every single client she works with. She has a true passion for helping them to achieve their personal goals, boost their quality of life through body awareness, and as a result, improve their ease of movement. She also believes in enjoying the process; combining mindfulness and laughter in all her Private Sessions and Group Classes.
